"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."
~ John Quincy Adams
At Tillman Academy, our Leadership Development Program unlocks each student’s leadership potential through study and practice. Students learn vital skills to prepare them for all aspects of life, including how to succeed as an individual and as a member of a team. Students will cultivate their unique leader-identities through our three development pillars: Mentorship Program, Leader Labs, and Leader Coaches.
Tillman Academy is a complete K-12 ecosystem, which creates opportunities for older students to interact with younger students in structured mentorship settings. Our mentorship program introduces students to the study and practice of leadership. As mentorship teams work together throughout the grade levels, they experience a deepening in both knowledge and the ability to relate to others outside their peer groups.
Leader Labs are structured settings where teams tackle challenges related to the curriculum. These are hands-on challenges that incorporate STEM
Engineering, and Math) topics as well as history and the arts. These quarterly Leader Lab challenges afford students a chance to hone their emotional and interpersonal skills while experiencing the dual role of leading and following within a team setting.
In addition to the Mentorship Program and Leader Labs, which are available to all K-12 students, formal one-on-one leader development coaching is available to students during their senior year at Tillman Academy. Students who opt-in to this voluntary program are paired with professionally trained certified Leader Coaches. These coaches help sharpen each student’s leader identity as capstone to their overall experience at Tillman Academy.
